Forty (40) participants will this Tuesday August 7, 2018 form part of a weeklong Enumerators training in fisheries data collection. Twenty (20) of the forty (40) Enumerators are newly recruited, while the rest will be undergoing refresher training. The Training, which is sponsored by the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA), is intended to fully equip the Enumerators in the collection of adequate fisheries data to inform decisions within the fisheries sector.
Accordingly, the training will take place at the Mesurado Pier on Bushrod Island and is expected to equip and provide a broader knowledge on the collection of fisheries data from various landing sites within the nine coastal Counties, namely: Montserrado, Margibi, Grand Bassa, Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, Rivercess, Sinoe, Grand Kru and Maryland. The work of NaFAA’s Enumerators will take place at specified Fisheries Communities across the nine Costal Counties in Liberia.
The weeklong training will be facilitated by the Department of Research and Statistics of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA). The Training is in continuation of NaFAA’s strategy to strengthen the fisheries sector and enable the Liberian Government reap the potential of huge revenue generation from Marine Fisheries.
