Tuna Fishery License

The guidelines below are required to obtain a Liberian tuna fishing license:

o Submit a letter of intent to the office of the Director General;
o Exchange and Review of Access Agreement Tuna Access Agreement Template.;
o Complete and submit license application form (insert link) with supporting documents to the office of the Director General;
o Signed access agreement between the Government of Liberia and the Vessel Parent Company. Written authorization must be issued to the Liberian Agent for signature on behalf of the Parent Company;
o Submit to pre-licensing inspection procedures at the Fisheries Pier in the Port of Monrovia or any designated port;
o Pay the total amount stipulated in the agreement ;
o Submit existing MTU codes as part of the Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) requirement;
o Fishing licenses are granted for a maximum period of 12 months, always ending on December 31st of each year.
o Once the Fishing License has been granted/issued, there are further requirements, including:
a. Assignment of the Fisheries Observer based on the proportion;
b. VMS switched on at all times;
c. All catch landed in Liberia is subject to landing fees, valued per ton dependent on the species;
