CANOES FISHING LICENSE FEES

The management of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority, NaFAA wishes to inform fishermen across the nine coastal counties that collecting the 2025 fishing license fees continues despite suspension of the Director General of the entity.

 

NaFAA’s Management is urging all Fishing Chiefs, Fisheries Inspectors, and the Collaborative  Management Associations Leaderships, among others across the coastal communities to continue the collection of fishing License fees as agreed upon on January 10, 2025.

 

Moreover, the fishermen are hereby informed that the Fishing Chiefs’ collection of the 2025 fishing license fees, and the Collaborative Management Associations among others will end within the next 14 days.

 

Full deployment of the Enforcement and Compliance team comprising the NaFAA Technical team, the Liberia Coast Guard, the Liberia Immigration Service, and the Liberia National Police will begin immediately after the 14-day grace period -February 27, 2025, given to the Fishing Chiefs and others.

 

Fishermen failing to comply with the ongoing fishing License Fee collection will bear the full weight of the 2020 Fisheries Regulations of Liberia.

 

Non-compliant fishermen will have their canoes and other fishing implements seized and taken to a nearby location until they can make full payment.
